I am directed by the Lords Commissioners of His

Majesty's Treasury to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 7th instant (34145), further relative to the

assessment of opium revenue at Hong Kong for military

contribution.

In reply I am to state for the information of

Mr. Secretary Harcourt that My Lords have been in communica-

tion with the War Office on the subject and that They under-

stand that a letter (in the terms of which They have concurred)

is about to be addressed to you by that Department.
